Menorca v Thames Valley 40 overs Saturday
On a particularly blustery day the hosts won the toss and elected to bat first. Tysoe and Davies getting us off to a great start putting on 74 for the first wicket in only 10 overs. The youngster perished on a jug avoiding 47(more to come). Tysoe displaying new found aggression continued to put the Londoners to the sword and registered his and the clubs first century of the season. He was ably assisted by Tim Hayden who hit a boundary laden 78.
Thames Valley never really got up with the required rate having hit the ground running by all accounts on Friday. A valiant attempt but falling well short on a by now sodden pitch.
Menorca 297-5 (A Tysoe 108, T Hayden 78, J Davies 48)
Thames Valley 240-9 ( J McCarthy 46 A Walder 40 L Ball 2-12 J Barker 2-16)
Menorca v Thames Valley 40 overs Sunday
Don't really know where to start with this one to be honest. Records tumbled on another particularly ropey day at Biniparrell.
It was great to see the youth opening Menorca's innings and "oh my giddy aunt" did they excel.James Davies & Jake Cockroft took the bowling apart and put on a record breaking first wicket stand of 251 it should also be noted that the partnership was broken in only the 23rd over when the latter was bowled for 59. From then on it was all about one young mans march to a breathtaking double hundred He plundered an incredible 26 fours and 9 sixes in a club record knock of 205. Unfortunately if that's the word we were also to witness Jake Boas hitting his maiden ton with as little running done as possible. 117* with 102 of them coming via the boundary. So Menorca blew whatever the previous record was out of the water to post a massive 426-2.
Thames Valley's reply was always going to be a uphill struggle despite a hard hitting 65 from McCarthy and 42 from Manning. The tail unfortunately wasn't to wag and their reply petered out in the 36th over.
Menorca 426-2 ( J Davies 205 J Boas 117* J Cockroft 59)
Thames Valley 169 ( T Hayden 4-12, S G Cotton 2-24)
